How to Find Us

Both the Bed & Breakfast and the Restaurant are in the Cerro Alegre/Cerro Concepcion area of the city. Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepcion are two adjacent hills a short distance from the city`s Plaza Anibal Pinto and financial district.

Coming to the Bed & Breakfast on foot:

From directly outside the bus station you need to get any bus that says "Aduana" on the front. The ride, which will cost about $300 (about 50 US cents), will take five to ten minutes. The bus will take you down the main road Pedro Mont until you come to Plaza Victoria at the end. The bus will then turn right with the square on your left. You will then turn left and go past the British Arch on the left and then see two tower blocks either side of the road ahead. Ask the driver to put you off by the block on the right and then cross the busy road and make your way to the other side of the tower block on the left and into Plaza Anibal Pinto.

From the far side of the square the road Almirante Mont goes up the hill. From the bottom of the road you can take a collectivo (a shared cab) for about the same price as the bus. Ask to be put off at Lautaro Rosas which is the fourth street on the right when you are going up the hill.  You will be put off at the corner of Almirante Mont with Lautaro Rosas and will be able to see the "A" for Allegretto sign a few houses down on the left. It is number 540.

Coming to the Restaurant on foot:

The easiest way to get to the restaurant on foot is to take the Ascenseur Concepcion (Concepcion funicular railway) from the Reloj Turri (Turri clock tower) area of the financial district. From directly outside the bus station you need to get any bus that says "Aduana" on the front. You will then turn left and go past the British Arch on the left and then see two tower blocks either side of the road ahead.

Ask to be put off the bus for "Reloj Turri" about five hundred yards after the two towers.  Cross the road, then go up the short Paseje Ross street and on to Esmerelda street where you should turn right and keep walking until you see the Reloj Turri clock tower in front of you with the alleyway which forms the entrance to the Ascenseur on your left.

When you get to the top of the Ascenseur, walk up Templeman street until you come to Pilcomayo street which is the third street on the left. Allegretto is easily visible in front of the church.

From the Bed & Breakfast to the Restaurant on foot:

Allegretto restaurant is number 529 on a street called Pilcomayo.  From the hostel, turn left out of the door and then take the first right, the street called Templeman. (In this part it is more a staircase than a street, with no cars able to get down).  When you get to the bottom of the stairs carry on walking down Templeman and Pilcomayo is the third street on the right. You will see the "A" for Allegretto sign easily from Templeman, in front of the Anglican church.   

To the Bed & Breakfast by car:

You come into Valparaiso down a huge long winding hill which turns into the city's weekend market street Avenida Argentina. When you get to the bottom of the hill at the start of Avenida Argentina you will see a sign post on the left Avenida Colon. Take this road (Colon) all the way to the end and then follow it round to the right and down the side of the Plaza Victoria. Continue down with the Plaza on your left and then turn left at the first opportunity after the square. This road (Brazil) takes you past the British Arch on your left and then between two tower blocks. After these turn left on Pasaje Ross.

At the top of this short road turn left on Esmerelda street and after a few hundred yards in the small plaza (Plaza Anibal Pinto)  you need to turn right and then take the right fork up the hill Almirante Mont. Follow the road up, bearing left at one point and after you see the two grocery shops on your left (Beno and Jenny & Lorena) the next road on the right is Lautaro Rosas. The Bed & Breakfast is one hundred yards down on the left at number 540. You will see the "A" for Allegretto sign.

To the Restaurant by car:

To arrive at the restaurant by car follow the same directions up Almirante Mont but turn off the road to the right when the road bears left. (This is actually the second road on the right from the bottom of the hill). Continue right round the church and you will see the "A" for Allegretto sign on Pilcomayo street which is on the other side.
